Football

A time for reflection…

The 2016 season will mark the fifth anniversary of the Jr. Mustangs program, which provides young athletes with a fantastic football experience

During the past five years, the London Jr. Mustangs program has certainly made their presence known in Ontario Football. Since our inception in 2011, we have won five championship titles, and we hope to continue that trend this year.

Although there are still many faces from our first days, we have also grown in so many ways. We are happy to announce our new Head Coaches for 2016 with Coach Tom Flaxman at our Varsity level, Coach Jason Kenemy at our Bantam level, and Coach Sean Campbell at the Peewee level. These new coaches join our returning Head Coaches, Coach Jean-Paul Circelli at Junior Varsity and Coach Bruno DeSando at the Atom level.

The Jr. Mustangs are happy to announce Coach Mike Circelli as the current President of the club. A well-known member of the football community in London, Mike brings to our program a great deal of knowledge, not only in the fundamentals of the sport, but also organized sport in general. His time with the Western University coaching staff, the London Beefeater program, and at Catholic Central has provided him with a lifetime of knowledge that we are fortunate to now have with our Jr. Mustangs program. Coach Circelli brings a genuine care for the safety of our players, and the development of athletes on and off the field. He believes in developing, mentoring and coaching our young athletes to be the best they can be.

The London Jr. Mustangs have also secured a new facility this year for equipment storage. This facility will allow us to manage equipment distribution, registration, etc., and it is truly a great addition to our program. The facility can be found at 571 Commercial Drive.

Tryouts are currently underway with over 280 young players working hard to earn a position on the 2016 roster. The season will kick off at TD Stadium on May 21. The feature game will be our Varsity division, who will be determined to prove to the Essex Ravens that it’s a new season! This group is certainly ready for a ‘do over’ from the 2015 season, where the Jr. Mustangs lost to the Ravens after a fake punt and an upset of 4 points! We encourage London and area to come out and support this football program and cheer us on!

The London Jr. Mustangs program has been fortunate to have some of the best volunteers in London, and without them it would be difficult to be successful. We would like to take this time to thank each of those individuals!
