The West London Hawks Minor Atom (23) team has enjoyed a strong and entertaining season, both on and off the ice, as they’ve competed in the Hawks organization’s Community Hockey League.

Practicing and playing their home games out of the new Bostwick Community Centre arena, the Minor Atoms Hawks have faced off against the North London Nationals, London Bandits and Oakridge Aeros, in addition to another Hawks team in the league, posting a record of 8-10-1 through the month of February.

At the time of this writing, the Hawks’ team had enjoyed arguably its biggest win of the season, a 9-2 victory over the Aeros in Oakridge.

“The team has steadily improved throughout the season – both individually and as a team,” said Mike Worby, the team’s head coach. “It’s all about improving and working on the fundamentals in an effort to continue getting better, and we’ve certainly seen an improvement across the board while the kids have had a lot of fun.”

Regardless of the score, this group of kids has been enjoying playing the great Canadian game all winter, and they get excited each and every time they step on the ice.

“Our players are really passionate about hockey. They really love the game,” said Worby, a third-year head coach who also spent five seasons as an assistant. “Win or lose, they love coming to the rink.”

The Hawks are scheduled to play three games in March before the playoff season. One thing is for sure for this group of hockey-loving Atoms: they’ll have fun playing each and every game!
