Bantam boys loving the game

The Elgin Middlesex Chiefs AAA Minor Bantam team (b. 2004) started the season off strong. And by the Christmas break, the team held a 20-10-3 record, good for first place in the Alliance West Division – an impressive accomplishment playing against talented opponents like the London Jr. Knights and Windsor Jr. Spitfires, among others.

The squad had also competed in three tournaments, including in Bowling Green, Ohio, Toronto (the Shanahan International Tournament), and Whitby (International Silver Stick tournament). The team’s final tournament was in January at the Great Lakes Invitational in Stratford.

Made up of 17 players, the Minor Bantam Chiefs move the puck effectively – in a variety of different game situations. They have also shown a great ability to compete as a solid unit.

“This group of young men should really be commended for their effort and attitude,” said Amanda Kostesku, the team’s manager.

As for goals during the remainder of the season, the Chiefs are looking to continue to grow and develop their skills – while continuing to experience their love of the game. And, of course, winning their division and achieving an Alliance championship would be fantastic!
