The West London Hawks Atom MD squad capped off a spectacular season by winning an Alliance Tier 1 championship in mid-April – and with an impressive 1-0 overtime win over Kitchener to do it. It marked their seventh tournament title of the season, a year in which the team went a perfect 7-for-7 in tournament play.

Despite losing their first two games in the Alliance Championships, the team rebounded quickly and secured a spot in a semi-final, where they beat a very strong Hamilton team to advance to the final. That’s where overtime magic lifted the Hawks to Alliance Gold.

Besides winning the West Alliance title at the end of March (which earned them a spot in the Alliance Championships), the Atom Hawks won five other tournament titles during the 2017-18 season.

It all started with the Stratford Early Bird Tournament in September, in which the team gelled quickly and captured the championship. And that was followed by wins at the Guelph Powerplay, the Silverstick in Chatham, the Lift Lock Tournament in Peterborough, and the West London tourney in their hometown. In each, the Hawks came back from early round losses to win titles – and against some of the most talented teams from around the province.

It was a phenomenal year for the Atoms, and congratulations are in order for their hard work, determination, and the heart that they showed throughout the season.

Go Hawks Go!
